About Mrs. Young
I was born and raised in Towson and Hunt Valley, MD and graduated from St. Paul's School for Girls. I earned my B.S. in Business Administration from Bucknell University, and after graduating, spent six years working in the business, marketing and development fields at Educate,Inc., Baltimore Magazine and Loyola University. After volunteering with students with behavioral and learning differences, I decided to leave my business career and pursue a career in education.
I earned my Master's Degree in Special Education from Loyola University, and was the lead classroom teacher in a non-public setting for five years. I am thrilled to join IHM's faculty this year as the Reading Specialist. I work primarily with students in grades 1 -4, but it is my hope to continue to be a resource to parents, teachers and students across all grade levels.
I live with my husband, our three-year old son, Parker and our rescued cockapoo, Dusty. I am currently expecing our second child (another boy!) in August. In my free time, I love to read, exercise, bake and travel.
Please see the other pages on this site for some of my favorite resources for both parents and teachers. And remember, reading with and/or to your child every day doesn't take much time, but will instill a lifelong love of reading!!
